The Ministry of Energy and Water will hold a press conference on January 8, 2014, at 12 p.m., three days ahead of the January 10 deadline for postponing the tender, to discuss the first licensing round for offshore oil and gas exploration.
The announcement comes 24 hours after President Michel Slaiman, speaking at a ceremony at the Chamber of Trade, Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Beirut on January 6, told attendees that delaying the tender should not be viewed as a problem and that Lebanon should not rush into a procedure that could be questioned at a later stage, joining the rank of politicians calling for postponing the bid.
